Work-Out

Why do you work out?

There was a time I stopped working out completely. I was working and barely had time to feed properly so I lost weight. Then, I stopped working out because I didn’t want to disappear.

I had to run a distance one day and I ran out of breath so quickly; I was panting real bad… that was when I knew that I had to resume my workout.

My workout routine is not intense at all. Just mostly simple anaerobic exercises, skipping and once in a while; jugging.
I think it is solely dependent on my mood though. Whatever I am in the mood for, is what I do. No trainers, gym or large equipment that give you a
headache at one glance but, just simple and easily maintainable routines.

People have various reasons for working out.
People work out because they want to lose weight, build up, become flexible, stronger or just to stay healthy.

When I resumed working out, it made me add a little weight.
I won’t bore you with intrinsic details but this is what happens… Muscles tear and are repaired as a person works out and in turn, becomes larger. So, one is not gaining unhealthy weight or adding up body fat but, muscles are expanding which leads to weight gain on a scale.

A good number of people bother about the figure on a
scale so when they initially start to work out, they are discouraged and then they completely back out. However, it shouldn’t be about the figure. If the love-handle is reducing, that's a good thing. If the tummy fat is disappearing, that is also a good thing.

There are a number of things associated with working out.

confidence
I don’t need to dwell on this because we all have an idea. If you don’t, well, working out boosts one’s confidence and self-esteem to a level. It can be complicated so, you can read up on that if you want more information.

I also think it is important to note that there are always adverse effects to working out.
I have read that in women, too much workout can cause amenorrhea.

Generally, as a human, you want to achieve more the next day than you did the previous day. This is just life and it applies even to working out.

With time, one gets stronger and might not even notice that he/she is doing more than his/her normal routine.

Personally, I have noticed that when I push too hard and/or get too intense with my routine, I suffer crazy cramps. I read up on that also so it makes sense.
So, it depends on the body type. For women, fact is; it affects your menstrual cycle one way or another.

Sleep
They say it helps one sleep better…. Rme* ermmmm not me!
I will address the sleep issue in another post. For now, let’s stick to the “it depends on your body and various other factors” but I won’t count on it. Undoubtedly, a person sleeps longer when he/she is exhausted and workout can produce that kind of feeling of exhaustion so, it makes sense that working out is being promoted as an antidote to insomnia but, I don’t agree much because It hasn’t worked for me.

There are loads of other effects like stroke, deformation (especially in posture), fractures, strains, sprains, heart rhythm abnormalities, stress on the heart, muscular damages, URTI’s (upper respiratory tract infections), psychological damage and self-esteem damage e.t.c
Try to read up on some of these things.

Nutrition
Nutrition plays a vital role on the effects of “working out” on the body. Depending on what one eats, one might lose or gain weight. Technically if one’s intension is to lose weight, workout is accompanied with a tone down on quantity of food and sometimes, quality of food. There is no losing weight while maintaining the same type of diet. Working out just helps get rid of unwanted fat in such cases. A change in diet is the most important step in losing weight.
On the other hand, one needs to work out and eat more to add weight. Working out helps expand muscles and foods like protein help in increasing muscle mass as well. So, one can add weight in a healthy way with no love handles… wink*

Generally, we all need to work out. Start small, try out a couple of things and discover what your body is suited for.
Don’t forget to read, this will help you to be prepared for what to expect when you start.

Enough of the rambling R… *rme*

Thanks for stopping by y”all!
Stay healthy!

With love
