The fact
that a perfect God has forgiven us our sins; past, present and future is
unfathomable to most of us. Then, we take a path to “self-righteousness” and
fail at it miserably! After which we enter a full circle of sin (after all,
when you break one commandment, you break all right?)
Great!
Then, we
play the Adam and Eve game of Hide and seek with God. We hide from him because
in our human minds, we don’t deserve a God so perfect if we can’t be perfect ourselves.
A LITTLE
LESSON ABOUT SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS
The children
of Israel said they would do everything the Lord commands (Ex 19:8). Then, they
were given the ten commandments (Ex 20). Unfortunately, before they received
it, they had broken the first commandment: “Worship no god but me”
(Ex 20:3-6),
the result; tree thousand died that day (Ex 32:28).
So, when you
say “lord, I’mma keep all your commandments starting today”, before you’re done
talking, I assure you, you will break one. I have tried it so many times in the
past. I will be like “Jesus, I will not insult anybody on the street as I drive
through today”. Honestly, before I get to my junction, I would have called more
than three people “stupid”! In contrast, when I say “Lord Jesus, I honestly don’t
want to insult anybody as I drive today… but I’m sure I will fail if you don’t help
me… so, Lord, Help me”, I see results people.
True Story!
Interestingly,
most of our Prayer Houses and Churches know the truth “For sin shall no longer
be your master, because you are not under the law, but under GRACE.” (Rom 6:14).
But, preachers justify their hiding the truth under a broad lie that goes “People will make grace an excuse to sin if we tell them that all their
sins have been forgiven”… Seriously?
Okay! Why
then will the Bible carry the information that you are so desperate to withhold
if it will lead to sin? I honestly think self-righteousness is s greater sin.
(Rom 10:3, 1 John 1:10) Calling God a liar is greater than every other sin in
my opinion.
P.S Don’t
say there is no bigger or greater sin because Jesus said “but he
who delivered me to you has the greater sin” (John 19:11)
Back to the
matter, Let me ask; how many times did Jesus die?
If his death
is not payment for our future sins, when will he die again?
Because I
can’t pay for my future sins and don’t tell me to be righteous because I
already am in Christ Jesus (2 Cor 5:21) and I know this. But for someone who doesn’t,
that message of “Go and be righteous” is a deadly message that can cause
depression! (*rme* no jokes!)
Is like
saying… go and count the drops of water in the ocean… completely impossible!
The bible
also says “our righteousness is as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). Why then do we
prefer preaching self-righteousness than the ultimate truth?
In the end,
people run away from God when they realize that they can never be righteous by
themselves. So, again, I ask; does it make preachers feel good that they
deliberately paint God to be the bad guy? Making people think he has given them
such an impossible task (of being righteous by themselves) just because of
their own human fear?
And he said his
ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8) and the truth you know shall set you free
(John 8:32).
Then again,
I inquire of you; why does it please you to bind people in the chains of lies?
The God that
gave us the truth, is He stupid?
Men of God,
stop playing God!
If you’re
not going to tell people the truth then…. Shame on you!
Seriously
though, being in an intimate relationship with God is freeing not bounding. Do not
misquote me and say "freedom to sin"…. No! Freedom to live! Freedom to experience
life! Freedom to be Joyous, feel good, look good and act right. It is not
living in chains, pains or away from the pleasures of life. Nah!
Honestly,
I understand how a retarded person can say “if he has forgiven for my future
sins, I might as well sin” I get it! But, remember that your messages don’t lead
people to Christ, the Holy-Spirit does. He convicts and touches the hearts of
men and that is not your job.
If… only the
truth can set people free, why won’t you give them the truth?
What is the
truth someone might ask… Good question!
The truth
is; No man can be righteous but, Christ was and He alone can do it. So, to be
righteous, you have to believe in him and surrender all to him (not the money
in your account or your cars people… but you heart!) Give that to him and let
him live through you. (If he wants you to sacrifice your money, he will ask you
for it; if you’re in an intimate relationship with him).
When He starts to live through you, you become dead to sin and the world. He makes you whom He designed you
to be, a god! In his image and likeness; to be like him and act like him (which
is the highest form of evangelism anyway). People will literally see Christ in
you and let’s not get started on the peace you will experience day in and day
out!
Oh! There is
also this inexplicable joy that even when the circumstances around you are
terrible, you will wake up in the morning praising him and people will be drawn
to that joy in you! Yo! I know no better kind of evangelism than this one.
I am not
saying it is wrong but… walking on the street and preaching has never worked
for me… what has worked is people being shocked at how “at peace” I am with so
many obvious challenges around me and yo! That gives me profound joy! When
someone asks “so, you were going through that and you were always happy?” and I’m
like “no… I wasn’t happy, I was just peaceful because I had the certainty that
it won’t last and it didn’t”… when that happens, it is another level of joy
because somehow, I have inserted the mystery of God's wonders in someone’s heart and
sub conscious. They start to ask about God, and search for him earnestly… and
we know that seekers are finders!
Remember, you
are always going to be in a battle and that battle is the one between the flesh
and the spirit. Christ living in you is spiritual victory but you still have a
flesh and sometimes, it might be hard for you to conquer the flesh and that may
not be okay but… If that happens, enjoy the forgiveness of God and move on in
his glory. Christ doesn’t leave you because of a mistake. Accept what it is,
accept his forgiveness and move on! Don’t condemn yourself (Rom 8:1) for Christ
doesn’t and will never condemn you.
I don’t even
want to get started on the “you have to confess your sins daily… or monthly” or
whatever they say…. It is not necessary!
God knows
your sins man! He knows your future sins too! He is there when you sin and he
will be there when you sin in future. If talking to him about the details helps
you, fine! But don’t go trying to justify yourself though. Otherwise, a “thank
you Lord for forgiving all my sins” is a perfect confession.
I do however
need to inform you that everything I have said here cannot make sense to you if
you don’t belief in him, accept his love and the perfect sacrifice of his son
on the Cross of Calvary.
“But seek
first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and everything shall be added
unto you” (Matt 6:33), (including private jets if you want).
The question
is; what is the kingdom of God?
Answer; Righteousness,
Peace and Joy in the HOLY GHOST is the kingdom of God (Rom 14:17).
The Holy Ghost
part is highly important because; you cannot do it yourself! Let our helper, “The
Holy ghost” take charge! Be free!
Read the
bible for yourselves children of God, don’t let anybody deceive you.
Some of these
men of God keep hiding stuff from us and feeding on our ignorance.
Despite all that, the good news is…. Christ will
deliver us all in a short while. While
we wait, stay awake and keep those eyes open.
God bless
you
With love
